We interviewed Hsu Yuming, Associate Professor of History at National Dong Hwa University, on June 27, in Hualien, Taiwan. In this video-recording, Professor Hsu explains how he began working with Wang Jingwei & Modern China.
I became less involved in Wang Jingwei research because I didn’t like the way it was being labeled as “hanjian (traitors to the Chinese nation) research”. But once I came to know Cindy Ho (the series Managing Editor), I realized it was my responsibility and good fortune to be able to help her.
Much time was spent producing these volumes…on layout, proofreading, and verifying sources… Actually, the scholarly standard exceeded the average masters thesis or doctorate dissertation. From the perspective of academic rigor, this series offers twice the value.
