“World in a Grasp” host Chen Yongfeng, Director of the Interdisciplinary Japanese Regional Studies Center at Tunghai University, invited Professor Eugene Chiu from Tunghai University’s History Department and Wang Jingwei’s granddaughter Cindy Ho on August 1, 2024, to explore Wang Jingwei’s position and influence in modern Chinese history. Cindy Ho shared family memories, mentioning her father Ho Mang Hang’s childhood friendship with her mother Wang Wenxing. She also spoke about her grandmother Chen Bijun. Professor Chiu analyzed the political roles of Wang Jingwei, Chiang Kai-shek, and Mao Zedong after Sun Yat-sen’s death, and praised Ho’s efforts to restore historical truth, believing that through these newly discovered primary materials, academics have the opportunity to reassess Wang Jingwei’s position in modern Chinese history. Professor Chen Yongfeng also pointed out that publishing historical materials has extremely important value.
