Wang Jingwei: An Ode to His Wife On Their 25th Wedding Anniversary

Cindy HoAbout the books, Simplicity in Complexity with Dr. Gabriel Chai

In this episode, Dr. Gabriel focuses on Wang Jingwei’s poem written in 1934, dedicated to his wife Chen Bijun on their 25th wedding anniversary. This is solid evidence that the two were married in 1910, not 1912, as was often reported. As Dr. Chai points out:
When people get married nowadays, there is a usually a big celebration, and a gathering of friends and family. Instead, when Wang Jingwei married, he had to leave his new bride, throwing himself into an assassination plot. GABRIEL CHAI
