As 2025 draws to a close, we look back on a year in which the Wang Jingwei Irrevocable Trust successfully hosted several seminars across Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our speakers—Augustine Pan, Yu Jie, Sang Pu, Akio Yaita, Gabriel Chai, Chip Tsao, Eugene Chiu, and Hsu Yuming—as well as the many young students for their support and insights. We also thank The Kittiwake Social Service Association and the Kaohsiung Public Library for their kind invitations. Most of all, we thank Chinatimes for partnering on the publication of our newly released volume, Wang Jingwei: His Life, Ideas and Beliefs—Reconstructing the History of Republican China with Firsthand Materials, which is now officially available at major bookstores with a 21% discount.
These lectures and our new book launch were well-attended, and the enthusiastic Q&A sessions demonstrated the public’s enduring and fervent interest in the life and legacy of Wang Jingwei.
Through the study of firsthand historical materials, the voices of Wang Jingwei and his inner circle are finally being heard; they are no longer mere political labels, but living historical figures to be rediscovered, read, and discussed anew.
This year, we also had the honor of interviewing Chen Yuan-zheng, a renowned Peking Opera master who lived through the era of the Reorganized National Government. This interview has become the most-watched video on our YouTube channel, accumulating 50,000 views. Drawing from his own upbringing, Master Chen recalled the social order and daily life under Wang’s administration, filling the gaps left by conventional textbooks. Additionally, we interviewed Tsai Sentai, a Hakka local historian from Wanluan, Pingtung. Speaking as a local witness, he shared Wanluan’s collective memory of and affection for Wang Jingwei and Zhong Renshou (1902–1979). These accounts offer a different historical lens, reminding us that understanding history requires more than relying on official dogma and third-party narratives with questionable sourcing—it requires listening to those who lived through it.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Trust is preparing a new series of seminars. We will continue to use firsthand materials as our foundation to explore the critical turning points of Republican China from diverse perspectives. We thank our readers for their continued participation and support. Information regarding future events and publishing plans will be announced through our newsletter, social media platforms, and official website. We invite all those interested in a more complete view of Chinese Republican history and the Wang Jingwei archives to subscribe.
To show our appreciation for your support, we are offering a 30% discount on physical copies of the Wang Jingwei & Modern China series at Books.com.tw, as well as on e-books via Google, Apple, and Amazon. Do not miss this opportunity!
